Hollingdean Parking

Silver Mazda Bongo

  • W616 VCD is a non-resident camper van, currently stored on Hollingbury Crescent in Hollingdean, which displays an expired Resident Permit for the adjoining resident permit zone J.

  • Residents report that this vehicle appeared in mid-September (which would align with the expiry date on the permit displayed in the windscreen) and has not moved in the following several months.

  • It does not belong to a local resident but is instead a classic displaced vehicle, where the owners have opted to store their vehicle for 'free' away from their home rather than renewing their permit.

  • This is not uncommon and is, in fact, one of hundreds of known non-residential vehicles using Hollingdean in this manner.

  • As the owners live in Zone J, they, of course, have opted to park this as close as they have been able to, meaning even more congestion and limited parking for residents in the Westernmost corner of Hollingdean abutting Fiveways.

  • The use of Hollingdean in this manner is not only inexcusably selfish, but it also adds to the congestion, noise, pollution, and traffic that local residents are left to deal with simply because this non-local vehicle's owners are unwilling to pay to renew their permit for their own area.
